Responsibilities:

  • Surface Preparation: Prepare surfaces by cleaning, smoothing, and ensuring they are free from debris, dust, or imperfections.
  • Mixing Materials: Mix plaster, stucco, or other finishing materials according to the specific project requirements.
  • Application: Apply plaster or finishing materials to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces using hand tools, trowels, and brushes, ensuring even coverage.
  • Texturing: Create decorative textures, patterns, and designs as specified in the project plans or as requested by clients.
  • Repairs: Repair and restore damaged plaster surfaces by patching holes, cracks, or imperfections.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that plastered surfaces are level, smooth, and meet established quality standards.
  • Cleanliness: Keep work areas clean and organized, including the proper storage and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Safety: Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.

  • Estimates: Provide estimates for materials and labor costs for plastering projects.

Tasks

  • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints
  • Apply, level and smooth coats of plaster
  • Clean and prepare surfaces
  • Cure freshly plastered surfaces
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using trowel and broad knife
  • Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in finish coat, if required
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry
  • Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied
  • Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages
  • Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms
