Thief Dies On A Transformer As NEPA Suddenly Restores Light While He Was Still Stealing

A young man, yet to be identified, was fatally electrocuted near the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) center in Otukpo, the headquarters of Otukpo Local Government Area in Benue State.

According to reports, the incident occurred late on Friday when the suspected thief had finished vandalizing a transformer mounted on a high-tension pole. He was electrocuted when power was abruptly restored by the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC).

The lifeless body of the individual was discovered hanging from the high-tension pole the following Saturday morning, drawing a crowd of onlookers.

Officials from the electricity distribution company were still in the process of recovering the deceased’s body from the electric pole as of the time of this report.

A source at the scene commented, “We arrived this morning to find the body suspended from the transformer pole, with tools in his hand.”
