Massive Crowd Gather As Sanusi Receives Appointment Letter From Gov Yusuf Amid Heavy Protests (PHOTOS)

On Friday, the reinstated Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, collected his appointment letter at the Kano State Government House.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had signed a new emirate council law on Thursday, removing the emirs of Kano, Bichi, Rano, Gaya, and Karaye, leading to Sanusi’s reinstatement.

Sanusi had been dethroned in 2020 by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje following a personal dispute. Ganduje had previously divided the Kano emirate into five separate entities – Kano, Bichi, Rano, Gaya, and Karaye.

However, the law used by the former governor to remove Sanusi was repealed by the Kano House of Assembly on Thursday.

Massive crowd turned out to witness the occasion as Sanusi collected his appointment letter from Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, at a event. The large turn out of people from various circles in Kano added colour to the event.

However, while the letter presentation event was going on, massive protests were also recorded. Apart from Kano which appears relatively calm, the main protests were took place in Abuja as those against the development in Kano stormed both the National Assembly and the Presidential Villa calling on President Bola Tinubu to intervened and prevail on Governor Yusuf to reverse what he done in Kano Emirates structure and leadership.
