Edo Election: APC Challenges Obaseki To Walk On Benin Streets With Ighodalo, Reveals What Will Befall Them

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has challenged Governor Godwin Obaseki to walk with his party’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), through the streets of Benin City and other parts of the state, suggesting that such an attempt would result in a “bloody nose” for Obaseki.

The APC also urged its members who are still upset over the outcome of the governorship primaries, which brought Senator Monday Okpebholo as the party’s candidate, to set aside their grievances and unite for the party’s victory.

Speaking during the inauguration of the local government and ward campaign councils in Oredo Local Government Area, the APC’s Deputy Governorship Candidate, Dennis Idahosa, emphasized that a new APC government would build on the legacy of former Governor Adams Oshiomhole, focusing on flood control, rebuilding public schools, combating insecurity and cultism, and upholding the traditional institution.

“Adams Oshiomhole has been out of government for eight years now. The current governor, Obaseki, has been in office for almost eight years. We challenge Obaseki to walk with his candidate, Asue Ighodalo, through the streets of Benin City and other parts of the state, while Oshiomhole walks with Okpebholo and see what happens. Without a helmet, Obaseki will come back bleeding because he is completely disconnected from the people,” Idahosa stated.

Senator Monday Okpebholo, assured that his administration, if elected, would focus on working for the progress of Edo State, ignoring gossip and prioritizing tangible development. He criticized the current administration and PDP’s candidate for their lack of achievements.

The Director General of the APC Campaign Council, Senator Matthew Uroghide, expressed confidence in the party’s victory, citing the APC’s accomplishments and the active involvement of its candidates, who are sitting members of the National Assembly, in serving the people.

In his opening remarks, the Director General of the Campaign Council in Oredo, Osaro Obazee, called for unity among the party members to ensure victory. He acknowledged the lingering anger from the primaries but emphasized the need to prioritize the party’s success over personal interests, warning against anti-party activities.

“We are adopting a new strategy for our campaign, which will be discussed in our closed-door meeting,” Obazee concluded.
