Comedian Norm Macdonald dies aged 61

Canadian stand-up comedian Norm Macdonald has died at the age of 61 after a nine-year battle with cancer.

Macdonald was born in Quebec City and worked briefly as a writer for the ABC sitcom "Roseanne".

He’s best known for anchoring the Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live.

Fellow comedians have paid tribute to Macdonald on social media.
