BREAKING: LP Suspends Its National Chairman, Abure

Julius Abure, the National Chairman of Labour Party (LP), has been suspended following a meeting of the state executive committee in Benin on Friday night.

The suspension, effective immediately, was ratified through letters dated May 14, 2024, and May 15, 2024.

In the letters signed by Ward Chairman Thompson Ehiguese and Ward Secretary Stanley Usiomoh, Abure was advised to cease representing himself as a member of the party.

The State Executive Committee, led by Kelly Ogbaloi, endorsed the decisions of the ward and local government committee. Ogbaloi explained that the state executive council had no alternative but to support the suspension, also ratified by the party’s executive council in Esan North East local government area.

Furthermore, the party’s deputy chairman, Mr. Patrick Agbontaen, expressed the party’s exhaustion with allegations of misconduct against Abure. The decision to suspend him until further notice was fully supported by the party.

The ratification letter emphasized the seriousness of the matter, stating, “The LGA Executive met on 15th of May, 2024, about noon, to consider the matters presented on the suspension and accordingly found them weighty and the suspension ratified and upheld.”
