BREAKING: Lawmakers Reportedly Begin Impeachment Against Rivers Governor

The Rivers State House of Assembly has initiated impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The process was set in motion at 8:00 a.m. on Monday within the legislative building, as reported by TVC News.

Additionally, the assembly took strict action by suspending the Leader of the House, Hon. Edison Ehie, and four other legislators due to their alleged involvement in an arson attack on the House.

Reports indicate that 24 out of 32 lawmakers voted to remove Ehie and the four others from their positions, marking a pivotal moment in the state’s political landscape.

Reports suggest that Governor Fubara and his predecessor cum Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, seem to have fallen apart. It was alleged that Wike was not happy with some actions Fubara has taken in the oil-rich state since he assumed power on May 29, 2023.
