BREAKING: FG Speaks On Paying Ransom For Kuriga Pupils' Release As Tinubu Orders Clampdown On Kidnappers

The federal government has reiterated that no ransom was paid for the release of the pupils abducted from Kuriga village in Kaduna state.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this disclosure during Monday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Idris affirmed, “As promised by Mr. President, they have been rescued. No ransom was paid.”

The minister commended President Tinubu, the National Security Adviser (NSA), the Service Chiefs, and others who played significant roles in securing the release of the children.

President Tinubu had previously declared that the Federal Government would not yield to paying any ransom for abducted victims.

Idris further stated that President Tinubu instructed security services to intensify efforts to eradicate the nationwide kidnapping menace.

He quoted the President, saying, “The President has also charged security agencies to ensure kidnappings are brought to a halt, and all the perpetrators of kidnapping will be identified and punished.”
