BREAKING: Chaos As Youths Take Violent Actions After Security Gunned Down Resident

Tension erupted in Bukuru town, located in Jos South local government area of Plateau State, on Monday after a combined security task force operation resulted in one person being fatally shot and two others injured.

The task force, including members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Police, and Operation Rainbow, was enforcing the ban on roadside trading.

In response to the shooting, enraged youths blocked roads and set tires ablaze, creating a tense atmosphere that alarmed local residents.

Bukuru Community Youth Leader, Bello Muhammad, confirmed the fatality and injuries to our correspondent, noting that the incident began around 2:00 pm. He also reported that the irate youths torched more than five vehicles.

Muhammad stated, “Some traders were engaged in their usual business activities when armed security personnel deployed by JMBD suddenly targeted them. They shot three of our younger brothers, killing one and injuring two others.”

The deceased’s father, Musa Aliyu, shared that his 30-year-old son was conducting a cellphone business in the area at the time of the incident. He emphasized that his son was not involved in roadside trading when the security forces allegedly shot him.

Aliyu said, “I am the father of Muhammad Nasiru. The security operatives approached the area where my son and others were selling phones and destroyed the cardboards used for displaying the phones. I was informed that my son and others had been shot, and that Nasiru had died.”

As of the time of this report, DSP Alabo Alfred, spokesperson for the state police command, has not responded to inquiries from our correspondent.
