Many Gunned Down As Kidnappers Engage Police In Major Shootout In Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has reported an intense gun battle with kidnappers in Ladipo area, thwarting their attempt to abduct wealthy individuals.

Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed that officers engaged the kidnappers who were armed and prepared to strike. In the operation, nine kidnappers were fatally shot, while two others escaped with injuries.

Hundeyin revealed the kidnappers’ plan to target individuals in Isolo, Okota, Ejigbo, and Ladipo areas. The police, acting on intelligence gathered two weeks prior, were able to intercept the gang, seizing weapons including AK-47 rifles and pistols, along with communication devices and vehicles used by the criminals. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend those who fled the scene.
